The teachers and staff members at Gibbsboro School are one of the key reasons our school is so wonderful. Highlighting the important role of the staff members at Gibbsboro School will only make our school community stronger. We want to share our appreciation for their outstanding work with a new program, HSA Staff Member of the Month. Each month, teachers, staff members, students and community members have the opportunity to nominate a staff member for doing something that goes above and beyond.

Based on feedback received, we will be making some changes to the HSA Staff Member of the Month program. Our staff opt out of a state wide program that highlights teachers so that they can foster their sense of community without anyone being singled out. We want to continue to respect the wishes of our staff members. Instead of choosing our staff member of the month based on the nominations received, we will make it a random drawing, as was requested. Staff members may only win once per school year.

We would like to continue the ability for people to highlight the amazing things that our staff members do. As evident in the nominations we received in September,  staff members were nominated not only by fellow staff members but by parents and students. We will give all nominated staff members a letter of acknowledgement. We are so grateful for the staff at Gibbsboro School and we only want to encourage their greatness.

There will be a staff member randomly selected each month. Nominated staff members will be recognized with a letter. Winners will receive a certificate and a small gift. There is no limit to the number of times a staff member can be nominated. Staff members may only win once per school year, but will receive a letter of recognition for each nomination.

Nominations must be submitted by the 20th of each month.

How long have you been a teacher? This is my 6th year teaching
How long have you worked at Gibbsboro School? I started teaching at Gibbsboro in September of 2017
What is one of your hidden talents? I can make a water drip sound and occasionally do it while I wait for my students to get ready for the next activity. They always get wide eyed and say "What was that!" ðŸ˜‚
What are some traditions or superstitions you have for the First Day of School? I always incorporate silly memes into my welcome back slideshow
What inspires you? That "ah ha" moment, it is my absolute favorite thing to see that moment when something just clicks! Or when a student who persevered through a challenging concept is feeling a new found confidence.
What’s the best/worst thing about being a teacher? My favorite thing about teaching is that it doesn't always feel like work, I enjoy what I do and I love my students dearly.
If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share? Success is knowing you tried your best, if you know you tried your absolute best, then you have been successful.
If you could take the students on a field trip to anywhere in the world, where would you take them? I would love to show my students different parts of the world. I had the privilege of teaching in a rural school in India and it was an eye opening experience. The culture, the food, the art, the history, there is so much the world can teach us.
